Gemalto has acquired a controlling interest in Plastikkart Ak?ll? Kart ?leti?im Sistemleri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.?. (Plastkart), a Turkish-based producer of smart cards and provider of personalization services.

Plastkart is listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange, so according to local regulations, Gemalto will apply to the Turkish Capital Market Board in order to fulfill its obligation to make a public offer for the shares it does not already own.
