Welcome to OCOVA 2009

ARCSIS, the SCS cluster, Hautes-Alpes Développement and the City of Gap jointly organize the 6th edition of the OCOVA Forum (Communicating objects and value creation). This event has gained strong recognition among the ICT and contactless community: big industry, innovative SMEs, research laboratories, urban and territorial communities, big accounts? : more than 150 actors from France, Europe and beyond  join every year to present their work, meet, talk, seize  partnership and business opportunities.

Since last year, the event has adopted a two-day format: the first day is focused on business-to-business and market development issues with conferences, round-tables, and presentations. The evening and second day open the debate to non-specialists and present usages of contactless solutions and smart object to the population.  Last year, about 160 persons attended the B-to-B section, and more than 200 people came the second day at the conference and demonstrations to the population. The press was fully represented with 21 reporters from regional and national medias and 53 articles published.

OCOVA 2009 will follow this pattern, with even more demonstrations and presentations: mobile environmental monitoring, sensor networks for smart cities, solutions for smart transportation, mobile solutions for culture and communications, along with a contest on multimedia content produced by the youth of the Hautes-Alpes and broadcasted over mobile phones and the Internet.

OCOVA is a unique occasion for innovative industries as well as for researchers to communicate about their know-how, unveil their innovations, present their products, and collect real-time reactions directly from the users. It also offers a great occasion to urban service organizations, communities, and big accounts to be made aware of the last developments in new technologies,  relating theses to their own needs and those of the population they serve. It also offers the Press direct access to first-class innovations, and allows financers  to get in touch with fast-developing start-ups . As for the population, it certainly represents an excellent opportunity for a « live » view (and sometimes a sneak preview) of the technologies that will shape their everyday life tomorrow...
